So it was rewarding to read a forthright biography of Mike Hoare, an extraordinary soldier of fortune and adventurer, written by his son, Chris.
Colonel Mike Hoare was born of Irish decent in British India. He joined the London Irish Regiment and served in Burma in World War II where he rose to the rank of Major and later left the army with the reputation of being an excellent
