Mere months after pulling the plug on the Escort and Squire, Ford filled the small load-lugger gap in its range with the September 1962 launch of the Anglia Estate.
While it had been beaten to a more practical version of the controversially-styled Anglia by the Friary Motor Company, who revealed its unofficial Touring hatchback conversion in June 1961, Ford followed its marketing of the original Saloon version and proclaimed the new arrival to be ‘the most exciting estate in the world’.
