I love it when my garden is lush, packed with plants covering every square inch. I don’t want to see mulch or bare ground; I want plants everywhere. And with summers long and hot and getting longer and hotter, I am using more and more tropical plants. I love their big, bold leaves, but more than that I love their response to weeks of scalding hot weather: They just growing faster, instead of turning up their toes and dying the way my delphiniums do.
