The Quest for Productivity Gains
The ABAA made a submission at the public hearing in Sydney on 26 March of the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Economic Regulation of Airport Services. We concentrated on issues with the curfew at Sydney Airport and primary capital city airport charges. The final report of the Productivity Commission is expected to be released in June.
Sydney’s curfew
The main issue concerning business aviation operations during the curfew is that only business jets with a Maximum Take-off Weight (MTOW) up to 34,000 kg are permitted to operate.
We provided a strong case for the Sydney Airport Curfew Regulations 1995 to be amended to allow business jet aircraft, which are certified to ICAO Chapter IV noise standards and also certified to carry a maximum of 19 passengers, to be permitted to operate during the curfew
