BLOW YOUR OWN
The Yellow Peril
These photos (above & right) may be of interest, further to your report of the recent Broadford Bike Bonanza and Neville Hazelman’s “Yellow Peril” outfit. I was at the Calder launch for the new Honda Turbo CX500 Honda in 1981 and as we were being loaded up to be returned to the airport this was unloaded. I only had two shots left on the film to capture these pics.

Since I was mentioned in the review of Ginger Molly’s book ( Eyes Right) I feel I have the right of reply. There are many points I dispute, among them: Page 207, the 1959 Tauranga 500cc race. Peter Pawson was not in New Zealand, Ginger did not have a 500cc Gold Star, I did not have a 500 Norton. Races were ten laps, the sea some 7km away. Ginger must have got the dates wrong. Page 21, I never at any time drove his mother’s car. On page 95, he says I had decided to retire. This is not correct, I had no intention of retiring at the time. His name was never mentioned within the (Suzuki) team. When I did retire he never featured in the discussions, and me stopping him getting a ride with Suzuki is is now in its fourth reprint. Alan Cathcart calls it, “the best book of its kind I have read.”
