Inflammation: THE ROOT OF ALL DISEASE

Low-grade inflammation can be understood as an immune-system response. When the immune system responds to a perceived threat, many pro-inflammatory substances are released, while others are produced at an increased rate. This is supposed to assist the body in removing the threat. However, in the event that the perceived threat persists, these levels will remain elevated and the low-grade inflammation will become chronic.

Chronic low-grade inflammation is the root of all disease, as it fosters an environment in which lifestyle and autoimmune diseases can occur.

For example, it has been implicated in heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, bone disease, depression, cancer, anger disorders, Hashimoto’s, chronic pain disorder, fibromyalgia and many more.

This type of inflammation is caused by poor diet and exercise habits, as well as increased levels of stress over an extended period of time and/or a genetic predisposition or weakness exacerbated by poor lifestyle habits.
