Her memoir reveals how she and her children escaped domestic violence.

Traumatised and suffering from low self-esteem, she realised that her family needed something big to bring them together and remind them of their potential. Practically, they also needed somewhere to live. They embarked on building their future home from scratch – armed with nothing more than YouTube videos and sheer determination.
