SPLAB

Let us start with the apologies. The Splab scribes were gutted to learn that some members of North Swell Surf Club, who recently clinched the SA Club Champs, thought we were calling them ball-bags because we revealed the meaning of the word Ethekwini in the same sentence. This was not the intention, instead we were complimenting the manne on the size and fortitude of their stones. Further grovels; last issue we said Chris Bertish is moving to America. This is not correct and we were misinformed. Again!

Leash-less surfing continues to blight our beaches. Seems the incident Zag covered at ‘Wrong Beach’, Kommetjie has had no effect. Allow the Splab to lay down the law: No matter how retro-cool you feel while doing it, surfing without a leash is dangerous and . Especially in crowded line-ups. If you have to go leash-less, do it alone at an uncrowded break, or during a competition with only 4 guys out. Leash-less surfing is fast becoming the movement of surfing.
