REVOLUTIONARY ANTI-AGEING
Redermalisation is the term used to describe the procedure that has been brought to South Africa by Drs Reza Mia and Elfrieda Fourie of the Anti-Aging Art Medical Aesthetics clinic in Houghton. The revolutionary treatment was used for the first time in 2011 and was recently the subject of a lecture at an international conference.
WHAT IS IT?
It’s a concept in anti-ageing therapy that involves a special injection technique. The needles deliver a combination of sodium succinate and hyaluronic acid (HA) – the patented formulation Hyalual – deep into the dermis to combat three ageing mechanisms of the skin:
1 Dehydration and loss of volume due to declining levels of HA in the skin, which brings with it more visible wrinkles and other signs of ageing.
2 A decrease in the metabolic activity, which leads to the slower regeneration of collagen and elastin in the skin and an accompanying loss in firmness and elasticity.
3 The build-up of free radicals, which causes uneven skin colour and texture because the cells and DNA are damaged.
