“IN 2012, I signed with the Brumbies and made the move from Perth to Canberra after seven years at the Western Force. Three games into my first season, I tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in my left knee while getting cleaned out at a breakdown and needed a full year of rehab. I was incredibly disappointed to be on the sideline for so long, particularly after arriving at a new club amid high expectations. But with the kind of collisions you take in rugby, and this being my first season-ending injury, I tried to make peace with it and use the layoff to work on a few things and come back a better player.
