1 GET TO KNOW THE NEW TEXTURE TOOL

Recently introduced to Camera Raw and Lightroom, the new Texture slider is like a finely nuanced version of the Clarity Slider. Like Clarity, it pulls detail out of the midtones, thereby heightening textures in the image and crisping up details.

However, it’s much more subtle. You can see in the split-screen before/after grab of the beach here how it works wonderfully over delicate details like the grain in the sand and the patterns in the waves.

Better yet, you can also apply the Texture setting selectively with any of the three local adjustment tools in Camera Raw and Lightroom – the Graduated Filter, Radial Filter and Adjustment Brush.
