Parents often view social media as a dangerous place for young people to interact, and often miss stories about its good side. The saying, “there are two sides to every story” applies to online activity, where, so often, stories of terrible and tragic situations involving social media make headlines.

However, Pinnacle High School junior Marsha Samson offers a different point of view on social media.

“It all depends on how you let it affect you,” she says. “If you put yourself in a bad situation, then you’re exposing yourself to the negativity of social media.”

Samson, who lives in Phoenix, met her best friend Victoria Johnson, who lives 2,500 miles
