Finding a campsite open in winter isn’t easy in France, but there are numerous aires. My friend Raphael and I decided to spend Christmas and New Year on the beautiful island of Noirmoutier, just off the north-western coast, where a fellow motorcaravanner had told us there was an excellent aire. Just 80 miles from my home, this seemed an ideal off-season choice.
