STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN

lthough I must have viewed Durdle Door a thousand times in pictures, as we stroll down the gravel path towards the beach, I see it in a new light and from very different angles. There are some other visitors at the viewing point below us, and they help to add a spectacular sense of scale and depth to this already dramatic vista.

The sun has just set over Weymouth Bay and the Isle of Portland in the distance, and an ethereal glow bathes the vast limestone arch protruding out into the sea.
