With my gruelling cancer treatment behind me, and newly married, I only had one thing left on my mind.
‘I really want a baby,’ I told my husband John.

A routine smear test when I was 26 revealed that I had small cell cervical cancer.
It was particularly aggressive, too.
Within a fortnight of being diagnosed, it had grown from 4x4cm to 6x6cm.

After the chemotherapy, I was told the tumour had reduced in size, so I was able to undergo a hysterectomy – to remove my uterus.
Doctors said there was a chance that afterwards, they could still harvest my eggs, so it gave us hope.
