Despite seeing eight minutes of the game in action, experiencing the journey of Sam Porter Bridges and cast of typically Kojima-named characters – Heartman, Deadman, Die-Hardman, and, erm, Cliff – we’re left with a feeling of how Death Stranding plays rather than an exact gameplay loop. But maybe we’re thinking in old game terms, and Kojima is trying to do something completely new.

That said, the details that are emerging present Death Stranding as a truly unique idea, one that borrows from other games but ultimately aims to alter the whole way we approach how to play.
