Money Magazine

Top drops $20 or less

Like Money magazine itself, this column has been offering its selection of the Best of the Best for 20 years and is working hard to stay relevant in the ever-changing world of wines that provide good value for money.

Holding to our $20 limit has been harder than you’d imagine as many of our favourites have just slipped over that price point. The good news is that, in most cases, it is possible to buy the wines chosen for this feature below the recommended retail price.

Buying in six packs or dozen lots will always get you a better deal. Developing a relationship with a local retailer will usually find them prepared to offer attractive discounts. Not only that, over time most will develop an understanding of what you like and so be able to make suggestions of wines that will expand your horizons.

Similarly, following reputable wine writers – those who make their living magazine is also a useful resource as it recommends both quaffing and splurge wines.
