Defenders explore THE GREATER MAPUNGUBWE

As always, the 2019 Defender Trophy was a family-friendly overlanding event where only natural obstacles and routes were selected.

The website emphasises the fact that it’s not a 4×4 competition that will test man and machine to destruction but rather the kind of contest where you win points by answering questions about the local fauna, flora, culture, history, sponsors and, naturally, the car itself.

This year was a bit special because it took place a mere 10 days after the all-new Defender made its official debut. In all likelihood, an all-new Defender will be entered next year, making this the last year the Defender as we know it will have this event all to itself.
