Few people can say something positive about losing their job, but US beauty influencer Huda Kattan doesn’t hesitate to describe it as the best thing to happen to her. Being made redundant from the finance industry in Dubai spurred Huda on to follow her love of make-up and today, ten years after starting her Huda Beauty blog, the 36-year-old owns a billion-dollar cosmetics company, is worth an estimated $610m (£467m) and has almost 41 million Instagram followers.
Such is her power that when Huda Beauty announced a pop-up in London’s Covent Garden last November, make-up lovers lined the streets to be among the first to shop there.
