WHAT’S IN MY PACK?

a volunteer with the Bibbulmun Track Foundation in WA, I am often asked to give advice to walkers about gear they need to undertake a longish walk in the bush. Requests for information come from walkers of all levels, ranging from the highly experienced to the absolute beginner. Clearly a number of factors will determine the relative importance of different pieces of equipment – the time of year, the weather conditions, the remoteness of the area being walked – but there are some fundamentals that should always be adhered to. So here is a list of items I would always take with me,
