THE LONG HAUL

I started long-distance walking seven years ago, mostly in Europe, and can’t think of anything I want to do more, but I have to admit that my first inexperienced walk in northern Spain was such agony that I can’t fathom now why I developed such a passion for it. With a little preparation, it doesn’t need to be like that. Here are my tips for enjoying wild civilised walking from the beginning.
