The coastal town of Porto was overwhelming at first. There was so much to see! The buildings in this lush city are centuries old and covered in blue-and-white azulejos (ceramic tiles).

We quickly fell into the rhythm of the local residents, who start their day with coffee (about R14) and a sandwich from the nearest – a small bakery-slash-coffee shop that you’ll find around almost every corner. A is a great place to enjoy an affordable meal or a (custard tart), and rest your legs after exploring the town. We kept our expenses down by venturing out of the tourist areas to eat. before entering a restaurant, to judge how expensive that restaurant was.
