ROCK LURING JEWIES

I’m very passionate about chasing jewies from a boat in estuaries and skinny water. However, living so close to the beach got me thinking; I could also chase them from beach headlands when conditions are not right for the estuaries, but that required a change of tactics and a new approach.

The below story is about making that transition from the estuaries to the headlands.

After using Google and watching numerous spear fishing footage of guys filming jewfish off headlands I got an idea of water conditions and features where fish would reside.

TACKLE

I usually use a 2500 to 3000 size reel in the estuary. I figured I would need to go heavier off the rocks because there’s a lot of structure and a fish can easily break you off. I went for a 5000 size spinning reel spooled up with 40lb
