There was a time when my iPhone stole every moment of solace and reflection there was in a day. When I was lying in bed or in the line at the supermarket, I’d have a ‘quick scroll’ which would often turn into a mindless half-hour surf. I attempted to cut down, but it proved harder than I thought. I relapsed constantly into excessive phone use before finally getting to a point where I felt in control of my phone, not the other way around.

But I’m not alone, most of us are addicted to our phones. The average person checks their phone 150 times a day. But it's not for our lack of willpower, since smartphones are continually updated with innovative ways to keep us hooked.
