Earth Garden

PRIORITISE, COMPROMISE, IMPROVISE

BEING A ‘damsel in distress’ has always been a last resort for me because I will only ask for assistance after I have sought out every other option. Leveraging materials and temporary bail ’n twine fence repairs are solutions I often resort to. I slide livestock mineral blocks up onto a plank of wood and substitute an extra pair of hands with a jumper to hold gates open. Learning trade skills arose out of necessity but I quite enjoy building and fixing things now. A little preparation saves a lot of labour so I stick to a routine of completing tasks based on urgency.

A strawbale food forest with‘The Retro room’s’ up-cycled decor I sketched a design. The layout included bush tucker plants, a clothesline dragon fruit trellis and worm farm featuring a vintage sink. A recommendation for dianella berries and salt bush lead me to a local nursery called Didja where I filled the car full to the brim with pots and the owners hot tip for me was: natives don’t like phosphorus.
