How often have you heard something – or somewhere – described as a well-kept secret? Franciacorta is one such. Just an hour’s drive from Milan, with its landscape dominated by beautiful Lake Iseo and by steep, wooded mountains – wherever you are in Franciacorta there are mountains in the background – its potential for sparkling wine was noticed as early as the 16th century, though the modern industry dates from the early 1960s.
