As three men settled in the cinema on 22 August 1972 to watch The Godfather, it seemed like any other summer’s afternoon in New York.
Except, after watching the film, John Wojtowicz, 27, Bobby Westenberg, 20, and Salvatore Naturale, 18, didn’t go home.
Instead, they drove off, armed with weapons.
They stopped outside a branch of Chase Manhattan Bank in Brooklyn.
