STARTING PROBLEM

I own a 2010 VW Polo Vivo 1,4. It has a peculiar problem: it is difficult to start when it has been parked in direct sunlight for a large part of the day. The problem materialised in 2017 and the vehicle has been serviced by Volkswagen since new. If the vehicle is parked undercover in a cool parking space, it starts normally.

When the problem occurs, the engine cranks but fails to fire. During each subsequent attempt, the engine sounds closer to starting but it takes about six cranking events before it eventually catches.
