EASTER MAN SHAKES UP U.S. RANKINGS

A change is underway in the rankings at the top of American Arabian racing.

Twice in March at Sam Houston Race Park, Easter Man (Burning Sand x Angel Proof by NF Proof) beat Quick Sand AA (Burning Sand x Triumphs Silkie by Seyvilla Triumph) in important early season stakes. Within a few weeks, Quick Sand AA, the 2018 Darley Horse of the Year, was resting at the Mississippi farm of owners and breeders Joe and Betty Gillis, recovering from an injury.

Easter Man has taken his place as the leading older horse.

In a late April interview, Joe Gillis described Quick Sand AA’s setback as a “ligament” injury.

“Quick Sand has been here about a month,” Joe Gillis said. “He’s good.
