Editor’s Letter

Summer has peaked and soon September will be here, with its cooler, shorter days and hopefully a few last gasps of warm weather. But before you start getting into autumn launches its Save the Bees campaign in the hope that, come spring, we will have created an environment in which they can thrive and increase their numbers. Turn to page 19 to find out the best ways you can make a difference, and look out for other bee-themed content in the magazine. Elsewhere this issue, we’re getting excited about returning to our screens. Over the past decade, the bakers, judges and presenters have made us laugh and cry, fuelled office chats and sweepstakes across the nation, and inspired a new generation of baking enthusiasts. To help get you ready, Holly Reaney reveals the ultimate recipe for creating your own dream kitchen for baking, from the perfect mixer to fantasy islands. She also catches up with our favourite stars from previous years to find out their tips for creating your very own showstopper (page 107). Finally, this month don’t miss the chance to subscribe to for just £20 for six issues, and receive a Sophie Allport apron, worth £20, and baking book, worth £9.99, completely free (page 54). It’s the perfect treat for bakers. What’s more, we’ll be donating 10p from every subscription to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Enjoy!
