Pinpointing exactly when I began to lose my hair isn’t easy. Its texture has always been super fine, and I’d suffered premature ovarian failure in my thirties. I knew I’d never have luxuriant hair, but I was used to putting it up, backcombing or plaiting it to successfully create a fuller look.
But after I was 50 I realised that gradually, imperceptibly, my hair was falling out. I found it increasingly difficult to disguise how thin it was.
It didn’t help that I worked in beauty
