SOUTHERN SPLENDOUR

LAST year Winestate conducted its first comprehensive regional tasting of the wines from Kangaroo Island (KI). The resulting awards rate (three-stars plus) was excellent for such a small wine growing region. The Winestate judging results were then adopted as the official results for the 2017 Kangaroo Island Wine of the Year Awards, which was won by Kangaroo Island Trading Company’s 2015 Shiraz. This year’s winner being the wonderful False Cape The Captain Kangaroo Island Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 by winemaker Greg Follett of Lake Breeze fame. The judges’ said the cabernet class was more Bordeaux in style than Australian - with lots of potential!
