KANGAROO ISLAND

ESCAPE TO ISLAND LIFE

KANGAROO Island (KI) is a sanctuary for wildlife and known for its natural, rugged beauty. It is also one of Australia’s hottest new gourmet destinations. It can be reached either by air from Adelaide or Melbourne, or via SeaLink ferry, which docks in beautiful Penneshaw.

KI is only a short 45-minute cruise from the mainland and SeaLink’s South Australian general manager Donna Gauci describes it as “a popular island escape for families and retirees”, who make up most people towing caravans and camper trailers to the island. “It’s not surprising that Kangaroo Island is such a popular destination for caravanning and camper trailer holidays as there really is something for everyone on the island,” she says. Visitors can enjoy exploring wineries, tasting spirits at Kangaroo Island Spirits, sampling freshly-caught seafood and experiencing wildlife encounters with sea lions at Seal Bay, and kangaroos, koalas and other native.
