Find Your Path

When you wheel your load of tools to and from the shed, a sturdy path eases your burden. When you welcome your friends into your place of beauty, an inviting path beckons them. If you want to escape, a simple path leads you deeper into your garden. The garden path is one of your best allies; it’s a problem solver and an opportunity maker, providing purpose and defining your garden’s style. It impacts the big-picture impression, and winds its way past every little detail. Without it, we couldn’t care for and enjoy the garden quite as well.

The first step to choosing the right path is to get a feel for what your garden needs. Stroll through the yard and take note of its important features, like a fragrant or special plant or a particular view. Pay attention to where you naturally walk and how often you take that route. If you have an existing pathway, did you walk the whole trail, or ditch it for a shortcut halfway through?
