ACE OF BASS

I was surfing YouTube recently and came across a great clip of Glen Campbell performing Wichita Lineman on a 60s TV show. It’s a brilliant song anyway, but what really knocked me out was the guitar he was playing. I initially had his six-string pegged as a modified Fender Jaguar. It has three pickups instead of the usual two, you see. After doing some research I deduced that the thing he was playing was actually a Fender Bass VI, an old-school baritone guitar that just happens to have a Jag-style whammy.

Anyway, I love the sound Glen gets out of a Bass VI on that clip and now I want one. I tried to get the sound using heavy strings on my old Tele, but it didn’t
