For some vintage collectors, it’s all about the thrill of the hunt: the classified ad, the six-hour drive, the pop of latches and discovery of the grail. But for those less inclined to scour the globe and bet the farm on what may (or may not) be a mint-condition ’59 ’Burst, the new Gibson Certified Vintage programme is a revelation.

Since February, the company has been busy batch-releasing a run of rare leftfield, historic and celebrity-owned models, sold via Nashville’s Gibson Garage and backed by the unprecedented safety net of a Gibson lifetime warranty. We ask director of brand experience, Mark Agnesi, what it takes to make the cut.
