‘Nine meets in 13 days’

THE Christmas and New Year period is always a busy one for hunt kennels, but this year meant a particularly busy schedule for the Pytchley with Woodland hounds.

As I write this on a Sunday afternoon, we have just completed nine meets in the previous 13 days. As a huntsman this requires careful hound management to make sure there are sufficient hounds for all the meets. I also need to ensure they are not overloaded and then suffer the subsequent fatigue, as there will be no let-up in the coming weeks.
