Let’s face it, some games are better off with a PC controller in hand. As is apparently the case with Rage 2, certain games have garbage default key bindings. Others, like, say, most third-person action games, just aren’t cut out for a mouse and keyboard setup. And can you imagine how awful it is playing Mortal Kombat 11 on a keyboard? We can, because we’ve tried. It sucks.
Likewise, you won’t persuade us that open world games such as Grand Theft Auto or Far Cry aren’t enhanced by switching to a controller after climbing into a vehicle. While you can clutter your gaming space with a plethora of specific peripherals designed to support a specific genre - fight sticks, flight sticks or steering wheels - the controller is the great generalist of PC gaming. It’s an easy, often cheap solution for when you need some extra analogue control.
