FOR THE COOKIES, COMBINE:

1/4 cup black cocoa powder
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup hot water

WHISK:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. table salt

CREAM:

1/2 sticks unsalted butter (12 Tbsp.), softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

FOR THE FILLING, BEAT:

2/4 cups1/2 cupshortening1 tsp. pure vanilla extractPinch of salt
