Boxing: it’s been a serious fitness buzzword this year and its popularity is set to continue.

But punchbags aren’t something most of us would usually have loitering around our homes, which is why we present to you the simpler shadow boxing – essentially, throwing punches at the air. But don’t think this won’t get your heart rate up and make you break a sweat!

Sophie Graham is a trainer at popular London boxing gym KOBOX. She explains that, even though you aren’t connecting with a bag or person, you are still getting a good workout: ‘Your back and abdominal muscles will be working as your body absorbs the force of the punches and counter balances.’

She adds that your coordination is tested throughout, as shadow boxing requires the chest, shoulders, arms, and leg
