CABERNET SAUVIGNON

93 Concha y Toro 2016 Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Puente Alto). Well-concentrated berry aromas include rich notes of chocolate, tobacco and earth on this plush yet restrained Cabernet. Spicy berry and cocoa flavors finish dry, long and with a hint of clove. Given the documented difficulties of 2016 in Chile, this can hold its head up. Drink through 2026. Fetzer Vineyards. —M.S.

91 San Pedro 2017 Cabo de Hornos Cabernet Sauvignon (Cachapoal Valley). Aromas of tobacco, green herbs, hard spice and gritty black fruits open this full-bodied Cabernet that’s saucy in feel. Grainy oak, mint and herbal berry flavors are familiar for Chilean Cab, while this tastes lightly herbal and minty on a plump, warm finish. Drink through 2025. Shaw-Ross International Importers. —M.S.

abv: 14.5% Price: $NA

91 Undurraga Smoky chocolate aromas blend with herbal black-fruit notes, a hint of lemon peel and a smear of black shoe polish. Freshness on the palate is at a premium, and along with that there’s lemony acid and smacking tannins. Blackberry, coffee and toast flavors finish with controlled heat. Drink through 2028. Maritime Wine Trading Collective. —M.S.

There are few foods as revered and argued over as the NYC bagel. Sure, Montreal may have its own version—a pillowy ring of warm dough—but when most people close their eyes and think of a bagel, they picture the dense, pock-marked puck with a hole in
