If golf is a game of misses, then golf on the PGA Tour is a game of losses. Winning on golf’s richest stage is rare – and the majority of its members know this all too well.

Those not named Tiger Woods learned to cope with logging countless hours of work, only to fall short of another PGA Tour player having the week of his life. Matt Kuchar was reminded of this during the press conference immediately after his victory at the 2012 Players Championship.

In the lead-up to TPC Sawgrass, Kuchar had earned four top-tens and two other top-25s that season. A reporter attempted to ask how frustrating that was, but was interrupted by the quick-witted Kuchar. Reporter: “Over the last couple of years, you’ve played so consistently but haven’t managed to win golf tournaments, does that frustrate --” Kuchar: “Yeah, you can suck it, big guy!”
