Qassem Suleimani, one of Iran's highest-ranking officials, President Donald Trump has taken one of the biggest gambles of his presidency - a step that appears to lead the U.S. on a path toward escalated warfare and that marks a sharp break from his often-stated desire to pull American forces out of conflicts in the Middle East.
