The Rake

THE HONORARY BR IT

It doesn’t take much convincing to like Paul Feig. On the one hand you can be drawn in by his impeccable style; on the other it might be his unimpeachable manners, the generosity of his time, the ebullience and wit that is almost as colourful as his wardrobe. Perhaps it is the stereotype-busting that stops people in their tracks. What do I mean? Well, the archetypal Hollywood director or behind-the-scenes big-hitter is usually regarded as aloof, withdrawn, grumpy, stressed, inconsiderate and prone to exhibitions of what can politely be deemed ‘artistic temperament’. Perhaps this is unfair, and I am tarring a swathe of senior Tinseltown talent with a brush they don’t deserve, but one thing I will stand by is that whatever mould there is, Paul Feig breaks it. We have featured him in once before, but it was a toe-dipping exercise that this feature aims to remedy.
