KAWASAKI TAKE HYPERNAKEDS TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL WITH THEIR Z H2
Kawasaki’s H2 not bonkers enough for you sir? Well step right up, as now it comes in a naked variation…
At a time when a lot a manufacturers seem to be looking back in a retro haze, it’s nice to see Kawasaki looking forward. Especially in the hotly contested hypernaked segment where they’ve been lagging behind for a couple of years, with what they call ‘The Ultimate Z’ – the supercharged Z H2.
So what’s new? Well actually, it looks like they’ve done a fair amount of work on the supercharged Zed, rather than just losing some bodywork from the existing model. They’ve tweaked the engine slightly for a better low and mid-range, while still maintaining a whopping 200 horses, given it a whole suite of new electronics, and then housed it all in a brand new chassis – which is then complemented by a set of high-spec Brembo stoppers and Showa SFF BP pogos for good measure. Details are still a little scarce and prices are yet to be announced, but here’s a look under the skin of one of 2020’s most exciting models…
Although it is the same 998cc supercharged four cylinder engine used in the H2 and H2 SX, this has been altered slightly with the focus being on low-mid range torque. Saying that though, the Z H2 will still make a claimed 200 horsepower! Kawasaki say they’ve tamed the engine slightly via the electronics within the throttle for easy-to-handle throttle response, which then decreases in severity as the speed opens up.
