When Hagley Hall shared duties with a ‘Black Five’

I WAS reading issue 260 of Heritage Railway, enjoying all the fascinating articles, when one under the News section really fascinated me more than any of the others.

This was set for a big Severn Valley Railway comeback in 2020. You mention in your article that it was returned to steam in 1979 after being moved to Bewdley in 1972 from Barry scrapyard. You state that after a period of running in, it appeared on the main line, double-heading with LMS ‘Black Five’ No. 5000 running between Hereford and Chester with a SVR special charter. I got very excited when I read this, as I knew I had photographed that train on that journey way back in 1979.
