WOLVES, MOUNTAINS AND CANYONS
We head out of Dubrovnik and say goodbye for now to the awesome views from the clifftops of the Dalmatian Coast. We have three quick border crossings scheduled before lunchtime and we can’t afford too many delays, so we make up time with some spirited riding, first in Bosnia and Herzegovina and then back into Montenegro. We head back into Durmitor National Park via Pluzine and are straight back into the wilderness, climbing through rough-cut tunnels along sections of dirt on our way towards the peaks of the park. The ride is awesome and one of the best so far.
Montenegro is a real eye-opener with some great natural scenery, and is merely waiting for tourism to arrive. For now we feel really lucky to have experienced this county in its relatively natural state. The mountains rise to more than 2500m in this area and are still snow-capped. Our swimming in 29° on the coast yesterday is replaced with a need for thermal liners in our jackets, and then the wind and rain kick in.
