Choosing an interchangeable-lens camera (ILC) requires more thought than simply selecting a camera+kit lens package because of its price, or on the basis of somebody's recommendations. The camera body you select will lock you into a system that includes lenses and other accessories, so be careful how you choose.
Photographers who already own a DSLR kit will likely have one or more 'legacy' lenses that will provide an incentive to buy other lenses with the same mount (although not necessarily the same brand since 'third-party' lenses can be viable
