Economy

At first glance this block looks like a nine patch, and indeed it is, but look again. Within the nine patch there are five Square-ina- Square blocks. More recently the name Economy has been attributed to this block. The other obvious pattern is Flying Geese — and don’t they look great whizzing around the outer borders? Keryn works almost exclusively in reproduction fabrics and traditional blocks, and this quilt fits that description. You can see more of her work over at her blog (details below).

The choice of the pale cheddar fabric for the background is very grounding and calming and this quilt would be perfect for a male or female. Or, change it up and make it in bright colours. Over to you!
