I’m not sure who this Bruce is that’s given his name for this jacket, but in my mind he’s a pretty cool dude – you’d have to be to have a garment like this named after you.
The Bruce is a wax jacket with a modern twist. It’s fairly short, and styled more like a leather jacket than a traditional wax jacket. But wax it is – 100% waxed cotton.
There’s a fixed waterproof lining and a removable thermal lining to make it more usable in different conditions.
The style and general approach is modern and simple. There are no vents or a zip to attach the jacket to trousers for instance, but there are two-step waist adjusters to let you get the fit just right, depending on how long ago you had your dinner.
The zips are all nice and chunky, and work well – although I might tie little strips of material to them, just to get instant purchase when tugging on the tags.
